Any advice appreciate on small loft studio build

I've attached a floor plan of my space. Here's some details on the project. My studio is in a loft under a steeply pitched roof/ceiling with rafters running top to bottom (N-S), hence the "headroom" dimension. The ceiling is covered with 5/8" drywall. I'm way over budget so I pretty much need to make due with what I've got which is 48 sq ft of 6 lb rockwool and lots of 3/4" plywood, 1/2" drywall and construction lumber. So any cheap ways of treating, soundproofing, I would love to hear. I'm mainly interested in getting good recordings and so treating the live room is the priority since I'm not mixing my own tracks (yet).

Some of the issues I'm debating are:

1. Should I continue and extend the 2x4 wall all the way to the roof, or intersect it with a perpindicular knee wall in front of the water heater? The reason I wonder about this is that a knee wall is going to give me more parallel wall area and a little less total room area as well. I only run the water heater periodically when I need to so noise is not an issue. Also, all other things being equal, is an insulated 2x2 wall going to isolate almost as well as a 2x4 wall?

2. I'm guessing that treating the walls and just the peak of the ceiling with the rockwool panels is more important than the rest of the ceiling since the ceiling/roof is steeply sloped (10:12 pitch) and not parallel with the floor but the walls are parallel.

3. Drywalling the outside of the 42" kneewall near the bottom of the drawing would be a PITA but that wall is important for isolation because of the heating vents in the floor and a wall of glass on that side of the house. So I was thinking of leaving the backside of the wall open and just doubling the drywall on the room side.

4. There is a 6" round range duct right next to the 28" door in the live room that comes from the kitchen below and lets noise in from the living space below esp. the refrigerator. I assume just wrapping that with foam would be the best approach to minimizing the noise.

5. Since its such a small space, I assume anything to deaden the room is going to be beneficial and that a carpeted floor or even rugs will help.

Well that's all I can think of at this point. I know its a lot but any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks much.

A few thoughts:

I'm not sure a 2x2 wall (I assume you mean a wall framed with 2x2s) will meet code requirements. You should research this.

The peak of the ceiling will be a good place for bass traps (it is another corner), but also you should be aware of where the reflections are being aimed. Read about the mirror trick in the HOW section of this article: RealTraps - Creating a Reflection-Free Zone

Not sure just wrapping the duct in foam will be enough. If you can, frame around it, seal it up airtight, and stuff the space between the the drywall framing and duct with insulation. That will help a lot more.

Yes you will probably want to deaden things, but you will want to do so evenly at all frequencies, which means you will need a lot of bass traps. See here for details: RealTraps - Acoustic Basics
