Studio Light Bulbs

Tried Fluorescent lights a couple years ago and they didn't work for me.
Are LED's there yet?
Dimmable, good looking and bright enough?
Can anyone recommend a good brand and model?

lot's of options for LED nowadays but they can be pretty costly compared to other lighting options and they can get pretty hot when using brighter units. ultimately budget and lighting design will dictate the devices you need.

LEDs hot? I've never touched one that made any heat at all. Huh must be a super super bright bulb

I did replace my bulbs in the studio with LED, because they are in close proximity of my clouds, and traps. I am very happy, but they are a tad too bright. Next time I will get ones with a bit lesser wattage. But no problem with heat so far.

Edit: My LEDs are Ecosmart, Bright White BR40, 16 Watts. That was the only BR40 that Home Depot had in stock at that time. It was on sale when I got them. If I remember correctly, it was less than $40 per bulb.

5-7 watt is plenty.

the key is to get the luminaire with the heat sink attached which drastically improves working life. down side is the heatsink makes them longer so you need to select the light fitting to suit.

if going the low voltage route spend the bucks on a decent transformer.
