Help with panel placement.

I know a little about where to place my acoustic panels. I know to place one directly behind the monitors, in the center, and I know to use the mirror trick to catch the immediate reflections.

The problem I am having is that I have a very odd shaped room, and I am not sure where to put other panels to get the best results.

Below is a (rough) diagram of the room. The pink object is where my desk currently is, the yellow object is a large window. I want to avoid putting the desk up to the left wall as I live in a semi-detached home and don't want to hammer the neighbors with bass.

Any advice would be very much appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Although it's common, the front wall behind the speakers is one of the last places to worry about placing an absorber. The wall behind you is much more important. See this:

Front Wall Absorption

You should put your desk at the bottom of the drawing with the speakers facing up, so you look out the window when seated. See this:

You would only need absorption (thick) on the front wall if you needed to control SBIR.

Thanks for the replies.

@Ethan I have moved the desk to face the window and already notice less of a high reverb sound, very subtle, but it's there. I decided to go with acoustic foam over absorption panels, simply because 2 people in my house hold have asthma problems and I don't want to risk any loose fibers from the rock wool.

@Glenn I have planned out where I want to put the acoustic foam so far, and I will have 4 panels left after treating the first reflections and the ceiling above the desk. Would you say it is worth treating the space behind the monitors, or is there a better use for the extra 4 panels? I've never really noticed any build up of bass or reverb behind my monitors, but I also never noticed how bad my room sounded until I visited this forum.

When treating SBIR you need to use something think (like over 4" deep) and made from rigid fiberglass or mineral wool. So I don't think what you have would fix it anyway, IF you have a problem. And like I said you really would need to test to figure it out.

Another quick question. I have moved the desk to the other side of the room, facing the window. I have bought 2 bass traps 1ft x 1ft x 3ft. I'm not sure where to place them. I was going to put them in the top back corners of the room behind the seating position, but since the shape of the room doesn't allow it, I'm not sure where to place them for the best result.
