you need to fully define your isolation requirements. if you're taking over a bedroom on a framed floor, the overall isolation you can achieve is going to be limited. then depending on your preferred set up (wall mounted or free standing monitoring, etc) will begin to determine options on your acoustics.

Thanks for the reply. That's my issue, I don't know the science of building acoustics. I don't want to simply do it myself, from reading, then fail. If you're qualified in this area I would love to contract you for design

The budget you have might be more than enough or not for your place and if that money is also going to be used to buy new gear.

It really depends on what you want to do and how professional you want the place to be (making a room in a box using elastometers/springs) for full soundproofing etc etc...

Altough this is a control room and usually the soundproofing requirements are not as demanding as the tracking room.
