outhouse building opinion! acoustical questions and physical space questions!!!

Hello all!

i am contemplating buying one of these:

I only need a small space ideally in my garden so i can do this without disturbing the mrs and the neighbors!

i appreciate they're pricey BUT...it includes all fixtures (optional ones can be selected) and the build etc as well.

do you think these are reasonably priced? (in a would i be able to get it made cheaper if it got it designed myself and built with regular builders not this company)

i've asked for actual test measurements of the amount of db reduction from the different rooms

Room within a Room to outside db reduction measurement
room within a room to mixing/control room db reduction measurement
mixing/control room to outside db reduction measurement

the room sizes are small i get that....5M x 3M consisting of a room within a room of 3Mx3M but i would pretty much exclusively do guitars and vocals in there...OCCASIONAL drums but i have a studio i rent for this. but could do drums budget permitting.

the mixing/control room is only 2Mx3M and I'm slightly concerned about this seeing as I have a fair amount of gear (but it does mostly fit in a 12U rack case which i'll put into a desk of some sort...i have Guitar heads but i can keep them in the other rooms whilst not tracking etc.

BUT i have KRK VXT 8s...these work great in my room at the moment (converted attic space which is nice and big and treated well!)

do you think that space would be manageable for these monitors? i REALLY don't want to downgrade them but paying for the larger outhouse is completely out of budget and i'm already stretching with this one! obviously acoustic treatment will be present all over the rooms that's to be expected. and i actually have a home made portable vocal booth which is two panels that cover 2M of space and are 6inches deep so that would cover the rear wall etc.

my old studio was similar sizes to the 2M x3M but i had Adam A5s in there so i'm used to a small room.

so if anyone can answer my questions that would be great!

thanks !

Life is too short for prefab 3x3 m rooms for audio. I'd spend the money on DIY and get a larger space that will sound better and have your own personality designed into the space.

whilst I get your response and who wouldn't love to have their own designed place etc.

I cannot afford to go down the route of contractors etc building unless I know for 100% certain it would be cheaper for a cleaner and also physically better end result. this is an investment into my property so one day I may have to sell it so it has to be visually appealing as well! so you're right life IS too short...but so is my wallet! and 3mx3m is fine for most of my tracking needs as I'm an occasional hobbyist that has occasional albums to record!

I guess I was hoping for one of the building techs around here to chime in along with the acoustic guys!

Part of the problem is that the room you linked to is 3 x 3. Square rooms lead to bad acoustics due to mode buildup. If it was all one room, 3x5 or whatever, you'd have better acoustics. At the least, I'd speak to local builders and give them a budget, just to see what you can get in that price range.
