Is microsuede effective for bass trap covers?

I'm making a second batch of OC703 acoustic panels, and I bought some more microsuede from ATS Acoustics. I'm noticing though, this fabric doesn't pass the "breathe through" test very easily--is it still an effective fabric? I presumed if the company sold it, it must work just fine, but I saw someone mention it might render the traps ineffective above 2k. Any thoughts?
