Where are bass traps more important? Front or Back?

I have 4 GIKACOUSTIC bass traps and I want to buy some Auralex LENRD (because they are cheaper). With the 4 GIK's, I can put them either on the wall in front of my mixing position (the direction I'm looking at) or behind me (the direction the monitors are facing). Since I'm assuming the quality of the GIKs is better than the Auralex's, where is it more important to have the good bass traps?

To clarify: I'm talking about corner traps.

Your attitude sucks.

Front typically and straddling corners. Don't waste time and money on lenrds though. Go the bigger better and cheaper route. Make some. Thick ones.

I would typically also answer front first, but if I was adding traps, I'd listen to them in a variety of positions, including back corners. Depending on the structure, windows, doors, etc., strange acoustical stuff can happen. But normally not, so at least trial them in front.

Ok, front. Only thing is they don't fit vertically, the ceiling is lower. Maybe I'll use a combination. I don't know if I feel like building my own. I'll see. thx

Most of the time I recommend the front. You can use the following test though to make sure.

Btw you might want to try one in each corner also

One in each corner for overall more balanced absorption throughout the room is what I am guessing.
