Suffit mounting

Hey,
i just have a general question. For example a room 6m x 3m x 7m with slight angled sidewalls.
Is it better to have the nearfields (front-ported speaker) suffit mounted or better to "pseudo" suffit mount them (i mean flushmount) and use a lot of absorption between the speaker and the frontwall to get rid of the frontwall-cancellation (170-230Hz). Are there any advantages from the second method?

True soffit mounting, where the speaker are built into a solid wall, is best. No matter how much rigid fiberglass you have, there's a still a reflecting wall behind it.

+1. I am disappointed by how many people try fo finagle a simple technique that has proven its value for decades.

Okay...thank you a lot Ethan. I thought it is possible to get porous absorber with absorption coefficients near "1" at that high frequencies, so someone could come really close.

@andre: I didn´t try anything! I just asked. It could be possible that pseudo suffit mount needs less EQ for example or has other advantages. It isn´t about the technique itself that i doubt.
