severe ceiling height constraint-single large mass leaf, or small cavity double leaf?

I’ve been searching lots of threads here. Perhaps I’m missing some elemental knowledge (wouldn’t be the first time). I’m building a room-in-room drum studio in my basement and would like to play full-out without disturbing my wife in the living room above. Basement is rough-finished, with an insulated ½” sheetrock ceiling.

My drum room will be decoupled from the structure, but I have serious head-room constraints, with space to accommodate a 3.5 to 4” thick ceiling. My question is: go with (2) x 5/8” pcs. Sheetrock on either side of a 1-2” rockwooled space? Or, go with 1 large leaf of (4) 5/8” sheetrock layered with greenglue? Both ways are very heavy, but I think I have that covered.

Thank you all for any suggestions you may have.

The floor is one leaf. Build the new celing with one leaf; that is one large leaf.
