Prefabricated Buildings for Studio

I have recently moved with my girlfriend to a place with a bit of land. We have been debating where my studio might go and there isn't a room that is ideal, or separate in anyway from the main house; that would lend itself to a studio.

Due to the land, I am considering a prefab building to use as a studio. Does anyone have any experience of this?

I'm trying to establish whether a simple 'site office' would suffice (the type found on building sites to house workers / offices) - or whether a more proper structure might be needed.

Type of room with insulation:

Example of something more substantial:
Garden Room fully lined insulated and double glazed. | eBay

Example of something inbetween:
The White Room - Super Shed, also available in Green | eBay

Any thoughts / experience of this?

Lightbulb

The Garden Room would be okay, but the others are too small or too poorly proportioned. I wonder if £15,000 isn't a bit too much for a building that size?

My thoughts exactly, speak to your local builder about it & I'm sure you could get a brick structure for that much. Possibly even something "double garage" sized, my single garage cost £9.5k

Here's a fun concept that's not very practical. Unfortunately the ceiling is too low, and you'd have to deal with the convex ends (maybe build low frequency acoustic control walls a few feet out from the convex ends, so that you have a flat surface to place diffusers/broadband absorption on. Then, use the area behind the walls for storage). Just a fun idea that might be worth doing IF the ceiling was higher:

I've seen lots of cool modular / prefab structures that would be interesting.
I've accumulated some pictures of possible structures on my pinterest account (click to view)

I would agree with that,
Check local building regs as well, you may be able to get more ceiling height than you would with a prefab structure. IIRC most places will allow up to 4m external height

Thank you for all of your responses! I am only tracking vocals so a large space isn't needed. I will keep researching.

You can pick up storage containers for very cheap (thanks china)....can even combine multiple units if you need more size.

A shipping container studio would be neat, but you'd really have to go all out with treatment.

There's a thread devoted to container studios here.

As you can see below, they put a lot of effort into modifying the parallel side-walls and controlling the low frequency response.

If you have the space, you can pour a large concrete pad, set one container on one side and a second on the other leaving a larger space in the middle. Then build a roof over them and add walls for the ends. It's possible to get quite a bit of economical space doing this, but this is more commonly used for storing tractors and farm equipment.

Aside from the acoustics, the containers themselves can present condensation problems.
