Want to DIY soffit traps, but unconventional size?

Forgive me if this is a rehash of any old posts, but I've searched and haven't found a lot of different data on soffit trap sizes.
I'm in a rental. I want to DIY some soffit style bass/broadband absorbers around 3 wall-ceiling corners (with the intention of also adding wall-wall corner-straddling absorbers). Considering the pre-existing door trim, the best dimensions for me would be 12"x12". I see most soffit absorber designs are 15" to 17" squared. Is there a big loss for me going 12" squared? I would think it's better than nothing?

BTW , the length of the traps for each wall would be 154", 132", and 114" (due to an HVAC duct) respectively. So they will be fairly long.

??? on the 12x12 size. The corner absorbers written about here are squares of insulation cut in half along athe diagonal. So a 12x12 piece yields two 17x12x12 trangles.

12" is pretty small. Yes it is better then nothing. I would make sure you make some of them larger if at all possible.

Thanks for the replies. Maybe I should clarify. Basically, I am hoping to make soffit-style absorbers that will run the length of three wall-to-ceiling corners. All the way around the room, not triangle superchunks. I would build them as a square frame, descending from the ceiling and extending out from the wall, both at right angles. This area would be filled with pink fluffy insulation. The dimensions I described (1 foot by 1 foot square) would fit the pre-existing trim well. I could also work around the trim and make most of them 15" by 15", with the 1 foot square section just fitting over the door. It wouldn't look uniform, but might be more effective. Any suggestions?
