Beginner studio

Hey I'm a beginner and want to buy some decent equipment for recording music. I am not at all looking for professional sound as I can't afford that kind of money.

At first I am going to record drums. It would be nice to know if I should spend most of my money on the mics or the preamp/preamps and audio interfaces etc. Except the room and of course the drums themself where should I be spending most of my money on recording equipment to get the best quality?

I am going to start with 1x snare mic, 1x bass drum and 2x overhead mics

(if I would spend around 100-200 bucks on each mic, how much would be good to spend on everything else I would need in a hobby studio?)

Thanks!

You can absolutely get a fully professional sound using affordable microphones and sound cards etc. The main limiting factor will be your own skills and experience. To paraphrase a post I saw in another forum earlier today, "I bought a bunch of expensive gear and my mixes still sucked."

So focus on acoustics (hey, this is an acoustics forum), and practice the craft.

It takes balls for someone to admit that so hats off to the guy that said it.
