LCD tv - latency (problem with visual communication between 2 rooms)

Hi GS!

I will install windows between control room and booth/studio.
But one part of studio is not visually connected with CR.
So, I'm planing to install LDC tvs with small camera in each room to solve that problem and have covered every situation and artist positions.

Friend of mine(studio guy) ones said to me that it is not going to work so great in situation when two musician will record together while watching each other trough LDC tvs - because of video latency.

Q:
1) Is that really a problem?
2) What specification should be chacked while purchasing camera / TV - to get latency in usable range?

I don't see where the latency would ever really be a problem, any visual cues I've ever used or seen used in the are pretty basic and not precise, they are more like a not to let the drummer know that the end is at the end of the measure and stuff like that.

Unless you are using really bad web cams I can't see the latency ever being worse than someone's reaction time.

Don't use webcams, try to find direct feed video cameras instead. minimise any conversions going on. Should be able to try them out before buying.
