Ceiling question's

So the ceilings in this place im moving into are 8 feet drop ceilings
I originally was gonna raise them since it goes to 11 feet above it.
Well I lifted a tile up and realized there was insulation above it all
I feel as this would be just a messy buggy dusty scary operation haha
but Ive heard low freqs can benefit from this? should I keep them 8
and just put a cloud over my set? Thanks guys!

In theory, a 8' ceiling with 3' of pink stuff above it could be a good thing. But it all depends on what the overall room characteristics are to whether this single factor will be a good or bad thing.

Like so many threads, you cant single out one wall surface, ceiling included, and ask what to do with it not knowing what the total picture is. That means good freq responses and ETC's at a minimum. Otherwise, its all guesswork and any advice could just as easily make a situation worse rather than better.

Yeah, 3' of insulation above your ceiling grid is good.

You might hang a cloud above your mix position, or if you really want to be sure you could just replace the ceiling tiles with real acoustic tiles designed for music and not office machinery.

Thanks guys, I'm making several bass traps for my room as is, full 6 inch 8 foot corner traps
and 6 3 inch traps for the walls I'm gonna keep them open back and mount them 3 inches off the wall anyways. Its only a 16x12 room so this should get it in a decent range.
I'm no professional just an 18 year old with a passion and some goals.. haha.

thanks guys!
