How should I best use space (3 rooms of basement) for recording, mixing, practicing?

Hi Gearslutz!

As I posted here, I am in the process of putting together somewhat of a studio on my basement: DIY Basement for rock band - construction + placement questions w/ detailed drawings

Please take a look at the drawings for the size of Rooms 1, 2, and 3 in the other post.

I would like to record drums and bass at the same time, but also use the space to record guitars seperately, practice together, and also mix.

Do you have any suggestions on how best to use the space? Ideally without major construction.

Thanks in advance.

And how to best use the space, I mean which room to place drums, which room to place bass, which room to place computer as a control/monitoring room, etc.

Thanks in advance.

.. not without major construction.

Anything else would be a toss-up and dealing with a practice/recording/mixing room can get crazy without isolation between the drums and the recordist... not to mention between drums and bass.

Post a drawing of what you are thinking of doing and we'll comment.

Cheers,
John
