Thread Starter | Build Sand Filled Stands
Hello, I am building two sand filled stands for my Dynaudio BM5A MKII and I need some advices about the project. For the base of the stand I am going to use a big triangle of mdf in order to have good stability my idea was 60cm for each side, do you think I should use spikes on each corner of the triangle? I am worried also about the reflection from my desk(table), I did some tests and the desk causes comb filtering, i know that is recommended to tilt the desk but I do not want to do that too much because otherwise I feel uncomfortable using the mouse. My idea was to build the stands a bit lower and tilt the speakers few degrees (6?) pointing upwards, the sweet spot will be worse but I will avoid reflection from the table. When I work I do not move too much and I am pretty still in front of the screen so I do not need a wide sweet spot. My speakers will be at almost 150 cm from me. What do you think about it? Thanks |

For a stand design that easy and cheap, you might wanna take a look at this thread: DIY Monitor Stands (PVC Pipe) And based on reading the thread(s) about desk reflections, it appears that you don't need a particularly severe angle on tilting the desk, so you might just try a couple 12-25mm blocks under the front legs of the desk. I don't think that should create too much of an angle to make using a mouse a problem or cause anything to fall/roll off the desk.
