Thread Starter | Gates. The kind you walk through.
I've tried asking this on a home improvement site but was met with a few idiotic comments, so hopefully I can get some proper help here. I've got pets and I CAN'T have them in the studio whatsoever, and I can't get rid of them. I spent $130 on a walk-thru gate, but my fat cat just jumps over it ![]() Is there some kind of gate, or walkthru type door contraption that I could put up to keep the cats out? Even if it's made out of cardboard or paper (one of those oriental-type things) or made of plastic, or made of screen material like on a window screen etc, I'd do it. I just need to be able to block up about 5-6 feet in width, and I think the height will need to be at least 6 feet, preferably taller. Is this something that I can buy, and if not and I have to build it, can you guys give me some ideas for what to build? I'd rather something that's walk-thru. I can remove it whenever I need to move big pieces of gear in and out. It can even be some kind of plastic/rubber thing with a big zipper down the middle, or some kind of screen material that I have to duck under. I don't care, I just need to keep them out! |

Are trying to keep the critters at bay in an interior space? Or from the outside? I would think a good quality screen door or even glass/wood french doors would work. Are you concerned about noise and interruptions from the pets, or have clients asked that they be kept away? It would make a difference if you simply needed to keep them contained (screen door) or out of sight and earshot (solid door) Hopefully you can come up with a solution that makes everyone happy.

Guess I am watching too much "My cat from hell" ![]() This is one of the things that got mentioned: StayAway Automatic Cat Deterrent ![]() I don't know if that works at a distance of six feed. Maybe you need two. In another episode it was mentioned, that when a fence is angled 45" (towards the cat), they avoid to jump/climb it. I do own a cat, and they are curious. My cat knows, she is not allowed in the studio. But very often she sneaks-in between my legs while I am opening the door. Then she disappears behind the racks. Bass sounds on the highest volumes, she just ignores. The only thing that gets to her, is when the fire alarm gets off. Get a door! I don't think a higher gate will help you:
