Thread Starter | Need help, constructing tracking room - What do you think of this rock wool product?
Hello, I've started the construction of my tracking room (fairly small - 11m2) and I need advise on a rock wool product I can get in Portugal. I'd be much appreciated if some of you guys could give an opinion. The product name is T 40 VF and a graph is on the second page of the PDF. http://portal.termolan.pt/termolan/U...55-70VF_pt.pdf This is what I'm planning to do: ![]() One other question is: Will the first layer of rock wool do any good reducing the resonance in the air cavity or should I go first with gypsum board and put the two 5cm rock wool panels together in the inner side of the room. Thanks for the help!

| Lives for gear | Damping
The air gap will help with soundproofing and damping increases its performance by eliminating resonance in there. But light cheap insulation will do this perfectly well. Best to fill it fully but do not compress it. There are 'blanket' type products for this job. Use wire or a mesh to prevent it from sagging to the bottom. The internal treatment....100mm is good. But a 100mm airgap between the sheetrock and fibre will nearly double the performance for no money. DD |

No, the fibre layer is not a leaf. DD |

Thanks for your help DanDan. So, if I understand correctly this would be a better solution: ![]() Correct? |

Pretty much yes. A thicker layer of lighter fibre would work better in the gap between concrete and gyp board. Isover APR 1200 Acoustic Partition Roll | Insulation | Acoustic Insulation | | Insulation Express DD |

Isover doesn't carry that product in Portugal and I have better luck grabbing something by Termolan, a portuguese brand. Anyone care to comment on the particular product I mentioned on the first post? |
