Do some research on this forum and others. There is VERY well-documented photo journals and informative building directions on how to build to acoustically isolate a studio space from surrounding spaces AND how to properly build/treat the space for desirable acoustics within the space...the two major concerns for building a studio space.

That being said-

If you need to keep sound in the space...you'd be best served not dry-walling those walls...but instead building another wall inside that one and putting multiple layers of drywall on them. That would afford you some mechanical isolation. It goes on and on and on from here...look up leaf construction.

Yeah, you have some research ahead of you at the very least. The answer to your questions about strategizing will mostly depend on budget, and what your soundproofing needs are. Plus you will need to treat the studio when you are done.

I would take the time and read the following book. Not only will it guide you on doing it right but will save you money at the end.
