Thread Starter | Another "Help me with this room" thread
I know these threads get posted all the time, so please accept my apologies in advance. However, I have done a lot of homework and am hoping someone more seasoned than myself can chime in to provide a little guidance. I have a 11' x 13' x 9'2" control room. I realize this brings me a little under the ideal minimum of 1500 cubic ft. Ultimately, I need to make do until I can afford a larger place. I plan on treating this room to sound the best it can. The room has hardwood floors and painted drywall. I also have 12 sheets of 2" un-faced 703. I had planned on straddling the corners with 2 sheets per corner, except for the corner behind and to the right of the listening position, which I cannot straddle, because it is too close to a door. I would love some advice as to how alternatively approach that corner. After those 3 corners are taken care of, I had planned on putting up one sheet on the left and right walls to take care of the early reflection points. Can anyone advise me on how to use the remaining sheets and take care of the 4th corner? I have considered a cloud, and treating the front and back walls, as I see many doing, but I want to make sure I am getting the most out of my 12 sheets. I will buy more treatment eventually, but am constrained my my budget at this point. The desk and monitors will be against the back wall. How close to the wall can my monitors get away with for a room of this size? I know around 30% backed off is ideal, but because the room is so small, can I get away with less distance? Please forgive my poor sketch up skills, I have included the picture simply as a visual reference. Thank you very much in advance! |

Also, will spacing some of the panels off the wall be helpful in a room of this size? I know these are a lot of questions. Thanks for the patience

Here are some not-so-great photos to help: Wood floor goes in next week at no expense to me. |
