Front wall in small home studio?

OK, now that I decided to get rid of my wall-to-wall carpet, and replace it with a wood floor, I am thinking about my front (monitors, mixer) wall.

Currently there is a door at that wall, leading to the outside. However that door is not used and I am going to lock it for good. As a possible solution to get better symmetry, I was thinking putting another wall on top of it. How am I going to deal with the cavity (5.5") between the door and the new top wall?

Because my room is small, (L x W x H) 155.5" x 92.5" x 90", in need to treat as many corners as I can. Would you incorporate the traps into the front wall (soffit?), or put up a flat wall, and place the corner traps later on?

For the time being I would leave the door as it is. Put traps on stands in that corner and or put them in the upper wall to wall corners. The more corner area you cover the better.

Thanks Glenn. Unfortunately, installing the wall on top of the existing one is unavoidable. The previous owner covered a window with a simple particle wood, where I plan to install the AC.

The good news is that it will be easy to install a "through-the-wall" AC. The bad news is, that the installed board is most likely too weak to withstand the vibrations, or even holding the AC in place.

I don't mind the AC noise, because it will be not on all the time. But on the other hand, I don't want to push it with more noise than needed.
