Thread Starter | New Basement Studio Build
What's up all? I've been trolling these threads for a few weeks now gathering different ideas for my upcoming studio build. ![]() ![]() the back portion (horse shoe wall) is concrete block. I plan on using metal H studs against the block, pack the space with foam insulation and layer one sheet of 5/8" dry wall to cover. The two built walls (actually several with the live room angles) will be framed with 6" metal studs. Insulated with safe'n'sound and 2 sheets of 5/8" drywall on each side for a nice heavy quadruple layered wall. i have the pleasure of dealing with a low ceiling round 6'9" so my plan is to leave the live space open joist. here is my idea for treating it with mild isolation ![]() so it'll be sub floor, followed by 5/8" d/w attached to the sub floor. packing in safe'n'sound 3-1/2"x16". next will be a little air space. about every 4' I'm gonna shoot a 4" finish nail cover the tips with gorilla glue, and within that 14" space between joists I'll place a 12" wide piece of 1/2" foam board. to lay flush with the bottom of the joists, which again, have 14" of space, I'm gonna construct out of 1x2 pieces of pine a 14"x(needed length) frames for the roxul rockboard 60 for absorption. using acoustic cloth to cover the roxul. i think I've got everything pertinent listed. I'm curious about diffusion in both rooms. i'll be using two layers of rockboard 60 for bass traps. in photo A: which shows the man glulam beam, i'm gonna need to pack out. I was thinking more pink insulation and wood blocking on both sides, sheathed with drywall. photo A here are some other photos of the actual space to give some reference. thanks for reading guys and girls. looking forward to hearing from you. |
