Owens Corning 703 - Where can I buy it?

I'm looking to pick up some 1in Owens Corning 703 Fiberglass board. I checked my local hardware stores and none of them sell it.

Where is the best place to order it from? I found a few places but the shipping charge is pretty high.

Thanks in advance ...

Where on earth are you? Try HVAC and refrigeration suppliers. 703 has become a generic term for 3 lb/ft³ fiberglass and 4 lb/ft³ mineral wool. Ther is nothing special or magic about Owens-Corning 703.

Good luck!

Magicly,
Andre

Thanks Andre ...

I found JOHNS MANVILLE Duct Insulation, 1In x 24In x 48In at a local supplier.

Is it ok that it's faced with foil on one side?

Thanks!

Who knows? No one knows what you are trying to build!

Sorry, it's been a long morning. My daughter woke me up at 4am.

I'm building an HVAC Baffle box according to Rod's book.

Thanks!

Yes it is okay. Keep the lined side against the walls.

Am I correct in thinking that rigid fiberglass board is perfectly fine and safe to use in baffles without being treated with anything?

Thanks!

Amazon.com sells OC 703 and 705 (probably through other suppliers)

I looked really hard to find some in my local area and came up short. When I contacted local sellers, they either responded and wanted to sell $1000 of only one kind or they didn't even reply at all. I wish I had known that I could order it so easy online before I wasted time trying to finding a local company.

I ended up buying some OC 703 and 705 from www.readyacoustics.com along with some frames and bags.
OC is also available from acoustimac.com

You can pretty much order what ever kind of 703 or 705 you want between the above

For those in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia, Canada, I recommend contacting Steels (steels.com) 7027 Winston Street, Burnaby BC 604.415.3803 or toll free 800-665-2354

Ask for John Wilson. He set me up with the Corning / Manville equivilant, Manson AK board for a decent price and better than what I found online with places like ATS for example and this was before shipping.

Yes, but the problem with buying online from a place like readyacoustics.com is that they almost charge you more for shipping than the actual product. If for example you spend $100 on a case, they charge $90 for shipping, which is ridiculous.

I still have yet to find a place online that doesn't jack up the shipping prices.

The problem with insulation is that it is quite bulky and therefore expensive to ship. Most likely places aren't jacking the prices up, but rather charging you what the shipping companies charge.

That said, without knowing the specific box dimensions/weights and the shipping addresses, $90/box does sound a bit high.
