Thread Starter | isolation technique I’m a student at Dundalk Institute of Technology in Co. Louth, Ireland currently in my final year of Building Surveying. For my dissertation my chosen topic is the conversion of existing buildings for use as recording studios. What I want to know is the decoupling technique where the studio is effectively separated from the original building commonly used in conversion projects and does it completly eliminate structure borne noise. Any feedback would be greatly appreiciated. |

Additionally, as myself and others said in the original thread: Studio design/conversion is always governed by the context - what building? what design goals? budget? etc... In order to use words like "effectively separated" and "completely eliminate", you'd need to supply the context. "Effectively separated" for a gun range means something entirely different than "effectively separated" for a VO studio. | |
