Thread Starter | Do I need IK ARC?
I am thinking of getting IK ARC but I have another related question about something I am not clear about. My room is untreated and I understand the issues involved. However- how come that a commercial CD played in this same room sounds perfect on my monitors but when I, for instance, try to get by bass sound right, all this boominess comes in. It is the same room so the same acoustic principles apply. Why is it then so difficult to get the bass right? If it is my ears that are not trained well then what would be the best way to build up tracks and avoid the boominess. I hope my question makes sense! Thanks! |

The problem with any EQ correction program is it does not fix decay times. Let me show you a few things to help you understand them. First a untreated room ![]() Note how the 70hz (and a lot of other areas) ring out (decay time). As that frequency keeps going on and on and on and on (get the point ) the other frequencies around it can't come out. That is why your mixes would sound muddy. There is no way for the notes to be clear. This is not the same but think of when you are in a crowed bar and everyone is talking so you can't here the person in front of you. Think of the crowed around you as the (ringing) and your friend as the note you want to hear. EQ correction can only take a frequency up or down but does nothing for the decay (the crowd) time. BTW bass traps will not only help with frequency response but is the bouncer that clears the crowed. With bass traps
