Glad that you were happy with the result too.

How many other rooms are you guys going to be doing up?
Thanks, man!

We are doing the control room next week.
After that, we have 3 booths to do.
The living area and the hallway need help, too, but that is all vibe/comfort.

Will you be posting pictures of the other rooms as well? I'm sure your control room difference will be much smaller than the live room difference, but hopefully you will be able to make better mix decisions with it re-done.

I must ask, did you plan on doing the other rooms from the beginning? Or have you now decided to do them since your live room sounded so much better?

I'll post some pics, sure.
I have known from the first time I set foot in the place that all the rooms needed to change.
Rod was kind enough to help me with that.
I have a day job, a 3 year old and I am going back to school.
I didn't really have time to do the whole "trial and error" thing.
I needed it to be right the first time.

Ha! I feel you man!

Well, good luck on the build in your other rooms as well!

Rod, btw - I ordered your book Sunday night and got it Tuesday morning. Immensely fast shipping. Halfway through chapter 2 right now and already learned quite a bit..You definitely know your stuff - and pretty good at writing so we can understand it, too!

Wonderful! Thank you guys for not taking that the wrong way.

Ron has anyone told you recently how reasonable you are?

Here's a pic of the completed live room.
We are almost done with the control room.

Hey man!

I'm looking forward to hearing your opinions!

I've done a fair amount of work in there since we did everything.
While sometimes I do miss the empty oil tanker sound for drums, I am very satisfied with the results as a whole. Everything sounds great everywhere in that room, now.
I have left the door to the hallway open and stuck a mic at the end a few times for drums. That usually does it for me when I want that type of sound.

The control room is (finally) getting finished as we speak.
We should have the bigger of the three booths done before you come out, too.

It's been very slow going working around bookings and other schedules.
It'll all get done eventually!

As cool as that sound was I would never want to have that as my starting point for every track. A live room is well "live" but there is a point of controlled live sound.

Don't get me wrong, I'd much rather have the 'after' all the time than the 'before'...

just quite dry for <6000cu.ft. no?
I agree...way to dead for me. I'm sure the whole ceiling was taken out for a good reason. I would suggest that you now put some back with strategically placed reflections...easy for me to say though!

I wish.

Frank already asked me...
"Maybe we can make it variable...?"
That wasn't a very long conversation.

Hey Glenn.

No data for the live room.
Just ears.

I'd like to compare before and afters for the control room, though, if I can get around to it.
