Mixing room with a staircase

I made a thread a few weeks ago about a different room, but scrapped it because there were too many obstacles.

This room is my last resort. The dimensions are big (18 feet x 12 feet) but there is a stairway where all the sound escapes. What would you do in my situation if you HAD to use this room?

I would put the mix spot facing the window as you want as much symmetry from where you sit to the front wall. If you keep it the way you have it now then things would not be equal left and right. From there you could use the following as a guide for set up
GIK Acoustics: Room Setup
BTW having the open area behind you (if you set up how I said) could actually work to your advantage as low end it going up the stair case and not coming back.

Place speakers on the opposite direction, close window if necessary

Thanks for the helpful info. A couple follow-up questions;

1. So does it make sense to just buy bass traps for 3 corners of the room? The corner with the staircase can't have one placed because of the door.

2. What about the wall that has the glass sliding doors? What could be put there? I was thinking some kind of diffuser that's not mounted to the wall, but on a stand, so if I wanted to leave through that door I would just slide the stand out of the way.

3. Is it too many reflections to keep the TV, table and chairs in the same room? I can move them to a different one if needed.
