Anyone using Closed Circuit TV instead of glass between control and live room? Making a glass partition between the control room and live room is not an option for me but I was thinking a CCTV setup could work. Does anyone here use this in their rooms? Are there CCTV setups with a "talk-back" sort of function? Any recommendations on CCTV setups that are affordable and would do the job well? |

We have 3 control rooms and 3 studios of different sizes, with a need to use whichever studio is appropriate for a particular session. So windows weren't really an option for our purposes. Instead we went with wide-angled lipstick cameras in every studio and control room with hi-def monitors in all as well. We can easily create bi-directional sight lines, and the wide-angle cameras cover the entire room. We even added an inexpensive composite video 1 x 4 distribution amp so we can route one camera to multiple monitors if need be. So far it's worked great. |

Thanks for getting back! Do you have a link for the camera system you used or any recommendations? By the way, studio looks awesome! | |

Thanks for the compliment on the studios. David and Brian really did a great job for us. As for the cameras, believe it or not, we bought everything from Security Cameras Direct. Security Camera Systems and Home Security Cameras from Security Cameras Direct They have a good selection of stuff in various price ranges. Of course the higher resolution cameras cost a little more, but we found a happy medium and the resolution is certainly good enough to work with. The 170 degree wide angle works great...covers the whole room. Since we have so many cameras (8 in all), we also sprang for a rack-mounted power supply that feeds all the cameras without having to deal with individual wall warts. Looks neater, too. Good luck! |
