Thread Starter | Optimal size for vocal booth
Hi, I've found a new type of vocal booth that looks really good and I'm probably going to buy. You basically get a lot of CNC made bricks and put it toghether yourself. You can order every size, in 30 cm steps. Check it out: STUDIOBRICKS I added the price list for your convenience. Is there an optimal size of a vocal booth, considering acoustics? I will use it for vocals, guitar and bass amps, and probably drums as well. In particular, what kind of treatment should be done if the booth is 2,10 meter x 2,10 meter internally? Internal height is also 2,10 meter (2,10 meter = 6.9 feet) Thanks, Torstein (btw they ship to usa, check price list) |

Would it be better if the booth was smaller but not proportional? Like 1.50 x 1.80 x 2.10?

But yes, that room ratio is MUCH better. You'll still need almost 1M worth of trapping though... (on every axis) i.e. not much room left for you and your microphone...JHBrandt - Myth of the Booth RealTraps - Vocal Booths MVH Sören

Max size (limited by the room itself) is 2.10 width, 2.40 depth, 2.10 height. I can go smaller though, for width and depth, in 30 cm fixed distances. I'm thinking 1.80 width and 2.40 depth might be optimal given the space restrictions. Then I have three different lengths. If I go with 2.10 width I will get a bigger room though, but only two different lengths. I have a 1.20 x 1.20 booth now that sounds boxy. I thought it was as simple as getting a bigger booth for the sound to get better..

Spending your money on treatment for that bigger room would most probably be a better idea... Quote:

2.10 x 2.10 x 2.40 or 2.10 x 1.80 x 2.40? I punched those numbers into this calculator and noticed the bigger booth got more red in the result: http://www.bobgolds.com/Mode/RoomModes.htm

| Lives for gear | You've got a home studio in your apartment, that still doesn't explain why you need a small booth? Option number two is better BTW, but to me it's really like deciding what would be best to spend ones money on, pest or cholera... MVH Sören |

I understand that it is better that width depth height has different lengths. Given the the size of the room, it was a reasonable question. Having a booth with ideal spec is just that: Ideal. |
