Thread Starter | Bass Traps - Earthwool Sound Control Batts
Hello I live in Australia, and am wanting to make some DIY bass traps. The only insulation i can find in Australia is the Earthwool Sound Control Batts (they can be bought at Bunnings) (item# 14K50450E) EarthWool Are these the right ones to get for bass traps? Or are the other Earthwool batts for ceiling and walls the way to go? EarthWool I have been unable to find any other brand in Australia. Thanks |

Hi there I'm in a rush so don't have time to dig them out I'm afraid..... But there have been a couple of threads recently about suitable products in Australia. Try a search. I think the name of the product (or was it the company???) is Bradfords. And I believe the GS poster with the info was Sebg.... If you can find the product he referred to, you'll be in a good position as these products had published data for gas flow resistivity (something I'm having a 'mare finding here in the UK) Good luck Max |

JD, it's 14kg/m3 and will probably do just great. As Max said, it's the gas flow resistivity you want, if you need to be precise.. but in most cases this stuff will probably do just fine. If you want to do an analysis before you build, you will need to find testing data on this stuff &/or gas flow resistivity. - So you can calculate. Other than that... It will work. And probably pretty good. ![]() Cheers, John |

Of course, 4-6" of OC703 is usually not a real "bass" trap, but it seems to have become quite commonplace to refer to it as such. I wonder what thickness the OP has in mind...?

How deep are your absorbers? Bradford makes suitable insulation AND INCLUDES gas flow resistivity values in their specs. Andre

I am going to be using 4" Would these ones be better suited and more dense? ... EarthWool Ceiling and Wall Thermal Batts Product code - AZ06E It doesnt state the density... but it has the following... 90mm thickness and 2.5 R-Value (m²K/W) ... im a bit confused on how the 'sound control' range on the website states the density and the 'ceiling and wall thermal' batt range state R-Value (m²K/W) little further clarification would be much appreciated as to which batts on that website would be the best to use.
