3d QRD

Why does it seem none of the stores sell 3d qrd's?

Because there are only 1D and 2D diffusers invented until today, AFAIK. If you mean 2D look at RPG site

Cheers

We have been thinking about selling 3D. Basically it is a 2D with the following included. Think it would work?

"3D" diffusers are called "volumetric diffusers" and are sometimes used in reverberation chambers:

i think he means 3D in the sense that the diffuser would be suspended from the ceiling (in open space), vs being mounted on a boundary.

ive seen some renderings that someone has posted on this site but do not have access to the photos at this moment.

i imagine their use would be primarily in a recording/live room.

Blackbird studio C has something similar with 2D on ceiling, but this construction is rather 2D fractal diffuser than 3D diffuser:

I mean something like what Blackbird has on the walls, but not so psycho. I remember seeing builds with guys cutting blocks out of styrofoam somewhere on this forum. Think something like a city block in New York. Is that considered 2d?

Mingustoo:

Just don’t assume that 2D (or 3D) is better than 1D. It depends on the implementation and the design criteria. If LEDE/RFZ control room for instance, 1D is usually a better choice. All too often people wants 2D just because they think it’s better or looks cooler.

Glenn, comon, get with the times! It's all about glasses-less 3D these days. Unless you're at the movies, in which case they charge you another 2-5 bucks for possibly recycled glasses
