Question Powering headphones for studio

Hi all,

I haven't been on the forums in quite a while, but I hope you guys won't mind trying to help me out here. My singer and I have "acquired" a professional recording studio (rent free ). Everything is there minus the gear that was stripped before the last guys split. I am trying to figure out how to best supply power the headphones jacks.

There are about 11 jacks throughout the studio all fed from one main wire, which starts in the control room, goes throughout the entire live room and into a back vocal booth / isolation room. It is a long, long run of cable. I don't want to go spend $300-500 on a typical headphone/monitor amp to find out it's underpowered...

Anyone have any idea what I should be doing here? Will the typical headphone amp do the trick and I'm worried about nothing? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,
Pete

High Z

Use a Power Amp. The Crowns were popular for this.
Use 400 Ohm or similar high impedance Studio Headphones. Beyers DT250s seem good.
This setup should render the system blind to the resistance of the wire run. Furthermore there will be no noticeable change in volume between 1 and many sets of cans.
