Replacement "slab" for exterior door?

Hi all,

The room that I have my control room in has a cheap door with glass that goes outside, which I don't need. I want to replace it with a slab that has better acoustical blockage capabilities (it doesn't need to be totally soundproof, just an improvement over what's there now, which essentially lets all sound in and out).

What would you recommend? This is a standalone rental unit, so I'd rather it not be insanely expensive, and I can't alter the building itself that much. The door it's replacing is 1 1/2" thick, and it's OK if the slab protrudes into the room a bit. I was planning on Green Glue-ing some MLV to the back, and then glueing 703 wrapped in fabric to the back of that. Good idea? Bad idea?

Since I don't need it to open and it's just a slab, what is the best and easiest way to keep it in the doorway? Best way to seal the edges?

Hope this isn't too many questions -- I would appreciate any help I can get.

Sealing the edges well is much more effective than adding mass to the door

Did I read it correct in assuming the door does not need to be operational? I guess there is another entrance?

If so, I would screw a sheet of Mdf to the doorway. Make sure there are no gaps.
