Thread Starter | Dividing Room
Hello, I am starting to plan the building of a new studio, It will be a control room used mainly for producing and mixing (in the box, without a big console). The basement has two room and the studio will be placed in the biggest one. I want from you some advices on how to divide this room and also on how to treat the tunnel vault. I have included a 3d sketch-up model. thanks. |

Try to avoid cylindrical concave reflection surfaces like this one at your ceiling in control room. Fill this space with porous absorbing material (look at this forum what people says about "fluffy" insulation) and that is easier... or use hanged absorption panels, much complicated. This treatment only will help overall low frequency absorption, and will calm down RT60 in room. Your overall ceiling is a bit low... but I believe that your room wouldn't be too claustrophobic. If you can go deeper with your floor, it will be better... but even without this... isn't that bad. EDIT: I don't think that additional dividing of bigger room is a good idea.... btw. Hope this helps a bit. Bogic | |

thanks, I can not go deeper with my floor, is against the law in my country to do something like that in the building where the studio is based. ![]() I was thinking about using hanged absorption material because I do not want to eliminate completely the tunnel vault, in this way the room will be less claustrophobic Anyway I quite need to divide that room because is important to me to have a third space, and I would not have the money to treat properly a such big room. The building of the wall is obviously an expense that anyway will pay for it self because in such a way I could rent one of the other two rooms as a working space Do you think that dividing the space, the studio room will be much worse? I attached here my plan for the new space. |
