budget ceiling ideas ?

hello again ! so, been building the basement studio for couple months. now the next question . have a 14ft x 20 ft area that will be a "chill out" area .
this will also include my hifi stereo set up for just listening .do I just go double 5/8s into the joists or should I do the clips with hat channel or double 5/8s with green glue ? I wont be blasting any amps here or drums .however, I am concerned a little about normal listening volumes going up stairs .I might also ad 7 ft of the 14ft is hvac trunk that will be framed and drywalled . anyone have experience with the joist tape thats supposed to be for soundproofing ? thankx in advance

I thin the general advice would be similar to that being given in the topic quietrock over existing walls for a one room studio???

great thread . thankx. so, Im torn between 2 layers of drywall w/gg or hat channel with clips no green glue . 7 ft by 20 ft long is soffit enclosed . the other 7 x 20 is normal ceiling . just tying to determine how much of a difference will clips make on such a small area . thoughts ?
