Funny Corner!**pics**(How should I place bass trap??)

Ok, so the pics below are where I plan to set up my worksation and monitors. In each corner I plan on making 4" basstraps made of OC703. If you look in the left hand corner, you'll see that there is a bridge that interupts the corner. That is a section of piping that had to be boxed off. THerefore, it kind of leaves me with 2 corners (one big & one real small) on the left side of the workstation. How should I treat this?? I planned on starddling the corner and not doin super chuncks. Should i just straddle it up to the bridge and leave the small, tiny corner exposed? Or should I make a minature bass trap to soak up the baby corner?? Help me out guys...this one's kinda tough.

P.S. Can't I just make the bass traps go from ceiling to desk level....or do they rally need to go all the way from floor to ceiling?

Is that going to be your front wall? Or did you decide to go back to using the wall on the right as the front wall ?

If front wall, I know 8 " is 8" but, shoulda, coulda, woulda made wall without the jog.

Soffit (drop ceiling is in) . "Looks" good .

All in all. For that corner in picture. you'll have some traps made right?
Take measurements.
Saddle corner with trap.
Take measurements.
Remove traps and replace with 3 - 5 feet of fluffy insulation. Maybe even, across thw wall, working into where the wall meets the new drop ceiling area (you do have that extra 8" ).
Take measurements.

Ah yes...my man Ritelec! How ya been bud?

Thanks man... Yea yea...the drop ceiling is in LOL! (i went ahead with it...does look good tho) .

Yes that wall in the pic is going to be my front wall.

So i'm confused...you said:

(but then you say)...Remove traps and replace with 3 - 5 feet of fluffy insulation. Maybe even, across thw wall, working into where the wall meets the new drop.

Being as thought the dimensions of those two corners are not similar, should I think about "treating" some that front wall, along with the front corners? Also, notice the side walls, see how one will be closer to the worksation that the other? If I plan on treating those side walls with 2" OC703, does the their distance from the listening point (workstation) matter?? (hope I didn't loose you)

I am not knowing.

Shoulda, coulda ,woulda made the wall straight and no drop ceiling, and set up more centered in room. Try it where your planning.....take measurements. Add treatment, take treatment away. Do test centered in that wall area and centered on that hole wall also. Take measurements.

There are calculations one might be able to use (which I don't know)....but I'm thinking it all comes down to measuring (and if it sounds good).

Adding the drop ceiling makes it as similar to my room (my drop is deeper). From what I understand it's like having two rooms coupled.

And I do get different results measuring to the left and right of the drop down.

What's 180 degree of picture (or proposed back wall)?

Yes ..so i guess it's going to be a trial & Era deal with acoustically gettiing the sound I'm looking for. Yes, there will be a back wall, I'll post more pics up tommorow.

(Really I wanted to have my cake & eat it to. Wanted a rec room that I use mostly for recording, but also wanted the basment, chillout feel as a get away option from the rest of the house )
