Thread Starter | Automatic Door Sweeps
finally time for me to start thinking about flooring and doors. The big picture is I'm building a small prject studio, ground up. This is a basment build on small budget so from the get-go I accepted that compromise would be evident. Acoustics are more inmprtant that Isolation (within my budget), and I don't expect to have complete (kick drum) transmission loss between LR and CR. However I do want to take advantage of the staggered stud wall and 2 layers of 5/8' gyp. I plan to use solid core (wood) pre hung doors and add good seals and mass to them. SO...... Those of you who have used automatic door sweeps to seal the bottom of the door to the flooring like the link below, how happy are you with the results? Soundproof Cow - Automatic door sweeps Soundproof Door Sweep | Door Sweep Soundproofing - SoundproofCow.com If you had to do it over again would you do anything diffrent? These are about $80.00 a piece so its a small chunk of change for a important part of the door assembly. Any thoughts or causions? Thanks in advance!

The concept of automatic door sweeps is a good one, but I question whether the one you linked to is adequate. Zero International sells much more substantial models, but they cost a lot more than $80! The one you showed might be fine. I didn't look for specs. I'm just sayin'. --Ethan ________________ The Acoustic Treatment Experts |

This is not to diminish Zero International. Their products are second to none. It is to provide options for price shopping. Quietly, Andre

For the price, they seem to be fine and will get the job done.

Ethan, Avare, Insulation Man, Thanks for the input. ![]() The KN Crowder and Zero International stuff looks very nice but is a great deal more $. Seing as how my budget is getting smaller and smaller with each leg of this buildout (paycheck to paycheck) and I dont plan to use a threshold (think continuous flooring between rooms) I will try the soundproof cow ones. It will be a minute since I need to get flooring done first, but I'll try to document the install and report the outcome. Thanks again guys! |
