Performing Live/Recording Acoustic Guitars

Hello friends of gearslutz. I am wondering about both performing live and recording acoustic guitars, *keeping 'best sound' in mind* as for other musicians like me, I like to put in my best effort to the experience of my performance

For live: Is it best to mic an acoustic amp, is it unnecessary to use an acoustic amp? Better yet, should I just mic the guitar from an acoustic amp that has a mic output?

For recording: Lets say I do not have an acoustically treated room, and I have a time frame. I would think that if I was to mic an acoustic amp with all the EQ settings, it would make the mixing stage a little more 'easier' and quicker.

So in conclusion.. Should I buy an acoustic amp? And/or buy an acoustic pickup (This would be for classical, as my steel string has a pickup already built-in)

What's an acoustic amp?
If you record with eq settings, you may have a tough time if you decided after recording that you didn't like those settings.
What's an acoustic pick up?
You can use built-in and clip on pickups for guitars, but I've read for recording that it's preferred to mic an acoustic guitar, even maybe with two mics.

If recording live acoustic guitar thats playing through an amp.... try a mic on each, the guitar and amp.
