Thread Starter | 9 X 10 room how much....????
I have read many threads over the last year and have tried some very unscientific attempts at room treatment. I think I overdeadened the room and am looking to revamp it. It has an 8.5 ft ceiling height so I dropped it a foot, put in two layers of Roxul and covered that with light cloth. This I will leave alone The room has a carpet floor which I think needs to go. I have corner traps but I think that they are too dead as they have no reflective membrane and are covered with a heavy marine carpet. Thoughts and advice appreciated Thanks |

Thanks Jens. My main concern is the carpeted floor and it seems unanimous that carpet is a major no no. Aside from mixing, this room is for tracking vocals and acoustic guitar only, since everything else is done direct or VST. I am a carpenter so this will all be DIY and an evolving experiment for the next while. What about diffusion , if any, in a room this size. Seems to me that absorpsion is more of a concern in small rooms....yes |

In a room that size I would want as little room sound as possible. You can give a bit more life with FRK on the bass traps you have but I don't think I would go in the diffusion route. Yes remove the carpet, if the ceiling is treated.

Thanks Glen and Jens again. I figure I will subscribe to what Ethan said in his video and concentrate more on trapping with some reflectivity added by FRK in the spots that are non early reflection critical. I don't mind losing a little space to get better room response . It's mainly myself and maybe one other person in there so it will suffice.
