New room, looking for a budget consultant to acess my room and tell me what to get

I live in LA. I can send photos and measurements. It's a very complex curvy room, which to my understanding can be a good thing. Obviously if someone wants to help me out for free i'd really appreciate it.

Most bass trap manufacturers will provide you with free consultations.

I've contacted GiK in the past and they were extremely helpful and did not try to pressure me into sales I didn't need. Highly recommended.

This is a public forum, and the whole point is to ask publicly and get answers from many. None of the experts will give you personal one on one private consulting for free. So post your stuff in this thread and ask away.

DD,

Some may - but I would not get involved with a room like that via the internet for a variety of reasons - not the lest of which is that curvy rooms can be quite complex - complex curvy rooms are worse.

"Can be a good thing" is possible - but so is the inverse - or a combination of both.....

If someone nearby had a complex curvy room I would jump at the chance to consult and treat the space - but I would want to measure it myself and judge the room.

My best recommendation would be to find a consultant in the LA area.

Good luck however you proceed.

Rod

I think you actually need an acoustics consultant. Sorry, IGMC.

Seriously, though, I have read enough of the studio design and acoustics forums to have come across too often where someone wanted the best professional advice for the lowest possible price ... and sadly they got what they paid for rather than what they needed.

I have an irregularly shaped room here in L.A. and went with Jeff Hedback, who is out in the midwest. His calculations and recommendations were spot on and affordable. If you want to read about my process it's blogged here: Studio Rebuild pt. 1 - Chaos !

Here's a link to Jeff: HdAcoustics Home

Good luck.
