Thread Starter | Review my room please for suggestions,TY
Hi all. I've been setting up traps. I'm still attacking reflections (as mentioned in past posts it's interesting how sometimes making rid of one creates another, eg: especially the right side absorber. I place the absorber on wall as directed then a reflection seems to come off the top left of it ???) but I'm curious how to tame certain frequencies and modes. When I originally started, I had more bass around 32Hz and less at 63Hz. With traps up it seems 32 came down and 63 went up. My problem frequency seems to be an increase at 50Hz. And maybe a decrease at ~70Hz (question: when I see "~" appear on this sight, does that mean "give or take"."plus or minus" ty). My current traps have been made from 6'" deep roxul with a density of 2.5 . Would replacing the front wall corner traps as constructed with the roxul instead with the superchunk (fluffy) decrease this 50Hz mode. Or should another technique and placement be used? As far as nulls at other frequencies , I'm guessing the use of wood of different dimensions being used around the room (other than at reflection points) that would help at certain frequencies. Please find enclosed a left and right waterfall and an IR file. Thanks for any feedback, Rich edit: with extra pre partition frequency measurement |

what is happening on the left side of your room? your response for that side is way different (and assuming this is your mix position).

What happened to the left side is right! Originally, everything was centered in the room on the front wall. However, because of a jog down in the ceiling, I centered it in the part of the room that was higher then continued the jog down part to the floor to make it a more narrow but symmetrical area. The room is all concrete and the new wall is sheetrock. I put rug on it as to be the same as the rest of the room. I know the rug is not the way to go but I'm hoping to add wood here and there to try to regain some of the highs that it ate up. The wall I installed pivots at two points to let the air conditioner come thru to the larger area, and holds the computer in that area. I stopped the wall about eight feet out, just outside the listening area. Should I continue that wall all the way to the back wall? Should I remove wall and set things back where they were, centered in the original room? The rugs over the listening area and drums I had there, I laid 2 layers of 3" roxul on them. As you see in the pics, I have to get to the back wall panels and traps. Enclosed please find current pictures and link to pre arranging of room post. Thank you. Sitting here, alittle bummed and trying to figure out how to attack this, I pulled up the first test I did with pre arranged room measurements. Looking at them (pre-partitioned wall), although they are also quit terrible, it looks like the partitioned wall measurements are alittle better. I stuck them up in the first post for easier comparison.^^^^^^^^ rich |
