Thread Starter | Oddly shaped room advice (Small corners, bay window)
Hi all I posted this a while ago but got no responses, I reckon my questions were far too broad So I went away and did some proper research, loadsa reading etc My three main questions are: 1. What should I do in regards to bass trapping the small corners? (bottom right and top right of the picture below) I was thinking small superchunk style bass traps, but would there be much point to them? As I'm also looking to keep as much space as possible as a drummer and a veteran hoarder, space is at a premium 2. I've read that putting the speakers/desk inside the bay window is fine? Am I correct in saying this? Would I not have issues with sound being reflected off the hard glass behind? 3. My ceiling is around 9 feet (or ~275cm) high, should I be looking to dramatically lower that height with the absorbers above the mix position? Or would they be fine being say 5inches off the ceiling? ![]() I've got sketchup models of the room if people would like have a look at them let me know |

| Quote: jimmy939, I would also try running the mix off the left wall. Hard to say which would be best over all but in the end bass trapping and treating the early reflection points will be in order.

Thank you both, I really appreciate any time given to my questions I have downloaded REW, it looks like a really well put together program so thanks for the recommendation, I'm now on the lookout for a measurement mic The main question I was really asking was whether people thought a bass trap in a tiny corner would do much of worth? Say a triangle with a front face of around 9 inches (22cm)? Obviously I would take measurements with and without but I would have to create the traps first, which would be a shame if they did very little So I was wondering if anyone had any experience with bass trapping such small corners |
