Thread Starter | Advice on taming a bad room
I have treated my small room (about 13’x18’) with some 2x4 four-inch thick panels and some LENRD bass traps in the corners, but I still don’t like the room sound that my mic’s are picking up. I would like to use some kind of dampening agent either behind the sound source or behind the mic. I have heard that a duvet/comforter can work in this regard. Is it better to hang this behind the sound source or behind the mic? (or both?) How far behind the sound source/mic should the duvet hang? I have heard that it is best to stay away from walls and corners. On the other hand, wouldn’t a padded wall work in the same fashion? Or is this just something to be avoided? If someone could explain to me how some of these concepts work, that would be great. Thanks in advance. |

I've had great results putting absorption behind the microphone rather than behind the talent. That way, the voice is absorbed before it has a chance to get out into the room to bounce around and be picked up later by the microphone. --Ethan ________________ The Acoustic Treatment Experts |

Build something like that. http://cdn.synthtopia.com/content/wp...flexibooth.jpg But then on a stand. Might build 1 aswel in the near future but then add insulation filled ''doors'' on a exsisting panel that hangs against the wal.

But: can a wall be used as a barrier? Or will this cause problems with waves in the room? Should the sound source be towards the center of the room? | |

One last question: does it matter WHERE in the room you place something like this? One source I read told me to stay away from walls.
