Class Project

Hey Everyone,

I am in my second quarter at the Art Institute and have a project where I need to gather together equipment for a recording session in Japan. Here is my topic:

Travel to Japan and record Shakuhachi samples for a virtual instrument library. Two days of recording, portable setup, carnets, talent fees, edit and organize

Any information would be much appreciated, especially on the portable set up. If anyone can help I will be greatly thankful.

Thanks,

Chris

You probably want a few mic choices. Make sure you take a mic-stand bag with some decent stands (tripods are more portable). Extra clamp-on booms and replacement parts are probably a good idea.

For the electronics, a MacBook Pro with garage band is more than adequate for capturing - you can use another rig when you get home for editing if you need to. The AF4 from Echo is a good portable unit if you need 2 channels of clean mic input...
