Thread Starter | Help With Room Set up! Where to put panels, etc?
Hey Guys! Alright, so I'm gonna be moving into a new space soon, and the room is pretty echoe-y (not a word, I know) and boxy sounding--aka, it sounds like a mini gymnasium in a way. I work in an attic space now, so the walls and ceiling are not cubed, and there is enough carpet and other things that allow me to at least have a decent sound in the room. When I move to my NEW room, I am planning on making some Owens Corning Panels (4 inches think, dimensions are in the pic below). Now, I am planning on getting 12 sheets of 2X4' 703 (at the recommendation of countless threads I've read). I was wondering if I could make 4 2X4 (two sheets each, so 4" deep) traps and put them in the corners (see picture). Then take the extra 4 703 sheets and somehow use them for reflection absorbers for the high end stuff? Maybe put 1 2X4 sheet (wrapped in fabric of course) on each wall? Would this help the boxy sound of the room and allow me to record vocals and other instruments in the room pretty well? Now, I'm just looking for a somewhat cheap, yet efficient enough solution to help with the gym sound in the room now. I made a sketchy drawing in paint to help show you what I'm thinking. Any ideas/tips would be awesome! Last edited by doop; 28th April 2011 at 01:24 AM.. Reason: forgot to mention how deep the trap would be! |

All of that sounds fine. Just make as many bass traps as you can manage, plus mid/high frequency absorption at the reflection points. --Ethan ________________ The Acoustic Treatment Experts |
