So, I'm in the process of planning my new living space. I've decided to put my mixing space at the only place where I can actually have three walls around me and fire the speakers the long way down. As I don't have much wall surface, I assume I won't be able to treat as much as I should but I'd like to hear your suggestions about what I should be doing and how to set things up the optimal way. Should I treat all of the ceiling all the way down to the back (living room) wall? Should I go for a LEDE approach? Would it even be worth it to add diffusors to the back (living room) wall? How much of a problem is it going to be to have a regular wall on one side and a brick wall with windows in the other? I was thinking I could hang treatment from the ceiling a few inches in front of the brick wall. Let me know what you guys think, I'm new at all this but would like to make the most out of my new appartment ![]() |

depends... how far are you willing to take it? acoustical measurements will be crucial to determine whether your response is reaching the targets. Quote:

1. Do nothing and deal with poor acoustics. 2. Follow 'musician friendly' advice and apply 'cookie cutter' style treatments that will go a long way towards making your room sound better, not take a ton of research/headache/time away from making music 3. Go balls deep and spend a ton of time researching this art/science. disclaimer: Very typical to start out in option 2 and gradually get addicted to option 3. Best of luck! John

Thanks johndykstra, I'm pretty sure I'm in for number 3 already. I guess I'll start with measurements first and take it from there. I just bought the place and I'm moving in mid-june. I love that long brick wall, it's not going anywhere for sure. Building a brick wall on the other side might be considered if it helps the balance :P Feel free to post more advices, guys! Thanks. |
