Home Professional Studio: Floor/Wall/Bass Traps. PLEASE HELP!!

I have just moved from a countryside home in Ibiza to an Attic in Barcelona Center and would like to treat the room for acoustics with a small budget and without any construction as it is a rented flat.. i am producing electronic dance music in my mackies 824 so i have some bass issues to deal with in the room definitely...
i shall be putting some fotos of the room and asking for advice but first i want to ask what kind of floor carpet could i use? i have been told i need a rubber carpet floor under the actual carpet... i want to buy the floor stuff first ..so i can place equipment and furniture on it and then start doing/buying the panels for the walls..

cheers

simply put, you can not sound proof without construction. Not even a little bit.

Putting absorbtion/diffusion/etc. on the walls will help the room sound better inside, but will do basically nothing for isolation (which is usually heavy, expensive, complicated, and involved).

There is no best, and if there were it wouldn't be very affordable.

Start here:

Acoustic Basics

Tons more here:

RealTraps Videos

As you'll read, the key is as many corner bass traps as possible, plus absorption at the loudspeaker reflection points. Diffusion on the rear wall is nice too, but that costs more.

The best bang for the buck is making your own, but that pretty much goes with anything in life.
see the following as a guide for set up.

now as my wall is 290cm high and the ready made bass traps are 120cm so 2 of them would leave me a space of 50cm...is that good? and where is best to leave the space..top or bottom?..
also i own 4 small plastic diffusers of auralex..if u know which i mean ..what can i do with them? rear wall or top of my chair on the ceiling?
regarding the rear wall i have a shelf furniture where i am going to fill up with records and books.. i know it might be a myth that something like that is like a diffuser but will it help at all?

cheers guys

Pan,

Traps are more efficient in tri-corners so you may want to have the 50cm space in the middle...

Put the auralex diffusers on the back wall.

Book shelves make better absorbers than diffusers - but they are best at shelving books. -- they do that real good.

Cheers,
John
