So I am building a room within a room to isolate my tracking and control room. I have read that R19 is a good insulation to use, if my air-gap from drywall to drywall will be 12 inches, when I put in the r19 between my studs I believe the 2 pieces of r19 will touch and fill the air gap. I am assuming this is not good so is r13 a good substitute or will it make a dramatic difference? Recommendations are welcomed ![]() My wall will be constructed like this drywall - drywall - 8 inches of air - drywall - drywall... (drywall is 5/8 inch, using 2x4's with insulation between the 2x4) |

dmykins, Ideally, nothing should touch. Go with the R-19. This should give you 10.5" of insulation for the the 12" of air space - leaving a gap of 1.5" & that will work great. ![]() Cheers, John |
