Thread Starter | I'm emptying my room and re designing...help please
I'm gutting my room and re designing it (positioning of gear) and soundproofing the ceiling. i've attached a picture to show the planned layout - the picture is not to scale. I'm hiring someone to soundproof the ceiling to stop sound going upstairs. It will be layers of mdf and rockwool I can imagine... also will finish the ceiling with RC slabs covered in material help up with a wooden frame. The ceiling will be basically 80% absorbant. I dont HAVE to do this, I can finish with MDF then hang bass traps if need be. I've got 4x 6inch bass traps that cover 2/3rd of ceiling to floor - 1 in each corner, also have 6x 4inch bass traps. These are all RC slabs wrapped in ReadyBags. I basically want some help and tips knowing i’m emptying the room and will have the option to do whatever I can to help the sound. I plan to get more bass traps, some diffusers for the back wall. Here are some of the things I need help with... If my ceiling is absorbant and acting as a bass trap would you recommend laminate flooring or carpet tiles? I want a small window at the back of the room going into the booth, this will cause a reflection even with tilted glass... Should I leave this out and work entirely through talkback mics? I was planning on having the window, bass traps in the corners and diffusers scattered over the back wall around the window. Whats the best way to treat a booth that shape? General tips, things I should concentrate on would be great. Thanks guys ![]() Uploaded with ImageShack.us |
