| Gear nut | Got a room. Have no idea what to do with it.
I did search. I found plenty of related articles. The only trouble is my room is oddly shaped. I just moved in to a house with some friends and they have an unused dining room and my friend(the home owner) has giving me permission to do whatever i need to(apart from knocking out the walls) to make the dinning room usable. For the most part its an 11'x14' room. It has little nook or something thats raised about 2.5" from the rest of the room and the nook its self is 6.5'x1.5'. Theres also an archway on one side in another area an two doorways (one with a door. I'm attaching a picture of a sketch of the layout of the room then a couple pictures of the room. What i'm looking for is a little advice where I should be siting while mixing/where my monitors should be. and what i should do about treating the room. As always, advice is much appreciated. So I'd like to say thanks in advance. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

| Lives for gear | Which way
I would place the speakers at the end shown in the first picture. Treating the room is well covered at the GIK and RealTraps websites and studiotips.com DD |

Okay guys, Its been a long break. I have new monitors on the way. Got a bunch of new cables. And I've got some new stuff to throw on my wall:D. with that though, i've got another question to post. I dont have a new photo right now but the old ones will do. I have bass traps in the two corners behind the listening position. but in this nook, which is where my desk is, would i want to do the bass trap in the corners of the room or the corners of the nook? Eventually i'd like to do all thats necessary but i can only put treatment up in like 70 dollar bits every few weeks. its looking good, and sounding noticeable tighter with the treatment i've got, but not quite there yet. |
